Description:

The Priest Chaplain provides healthcare service that contribute to the physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual well being of each person served in support of our mission. Relies on experience and judgment to perform ministerial role. Works under general supervision.

Job Function:

  • Spiritual Care:
  • The spiritual needs of patients are appropriately assessed. Their families and team members identified individuals with special needs and communicate their status to other disciplines as needed.
  • All new patients in the assigned areas are visited with 24 hours of their arrival.
  • Crisis ministry is provided to the patients, their families and staff in assigned areas. End of life issues are proactively are acted upon as needed.
  • Supportive pastoral ministry to patients and families in assigned areas are continued through follow-up visits at least once every three days.
  • All Pastoral Care interventions and assessments are documented in the patient record daily.
  • Quality & Performance Improvement:
  • Ecumenical worship services are planned and provided as scheduled for specific times during the year (Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter); Quarterly Memorial Service for patients who expire at the St. Francis Medical Center, deceased members of the staff, and their relatives are conducted as scheduled.
  • Inter-disciplinary team meetings are attended with active participation.
  • Other duties as Assigned:
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Internal functions of the department are completed as assigned.

Experience, Education, Training, Special Skills, and Licensure:

  • 1 year experience in field or in healthcare setting
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Good interpersonal/human relations skills; Good oral/written communication skills; Good teamwork skills.
