The Primary Care Paramedic/Firefighter performs emergency and non-emergency duties under the direction of Fire Officers of an assigned fire and rescue team, and the on-duty Nurse Practitioner.
MUST-HAVES (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):
- Work experience as an Primary Care Paramedic/Firefighter
- Fire Certifications(not limited to):
- NFPA 1001 Level 1 and 2
- NFPA 1002 Level 1 and 2
- NFPA 1006 Rope Rescue Or Equivalent to NFPA
- NFPA 1006 Confined Space Or Equivalent to NFPA
- NFPA 472 Hazmat
- Exceptional collaboration with other groups and the ability to work under pressure
- Current registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Responsibilities:
- Complete daily tasks and assignments under the direction of fire officers of the assigned fire and rescue team.
- Maintain a respectful work environment by demonstrating positive work place behaviour.
- Comply with company policies regarding code of conduct, uniform, dress, and appearance.
- Attend required meetings including daily start-of-shift meetings.
- Participate in fire and rescue training.
- Participate in continuing medical education provided by International SOS.
- Prepare and assist with medical training for the assigned fire and rescue team.
- Assist with the onboarding of new hires by acting as a mentor to those members as they work towards the completion of their induction package.
- Perform inspections and maintenance of fire, rescue, and EMS apparatus, equipment, and other client assets.
- Maintain the cleanliness of fire, rescue, and EMS apparatus, equipment and facilities.
- Keep up to date with site-specific fire and rescue guidelines and procedures, medical protocols, rescue plans, and pre-incident plans.
- Complete required fire and rescue training courses.
- Complete required International SOS continuing education modules.
- Complete drug and alcohol collector training and perform drug and alcohol testing for workers on site.
- Assist medical clinic staff during high patient intake times when assistance is required for individual patient care needs.
- Perform administrative duties that may be requested by the fire officers or the on-duty nurse practitioner.
- Ensure International SOS is represented in a positive and professional manner when interacting with the client and other contractors on site
