Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Technical Architect or Software Architect
  • Experience of leading a team from a technical perspective.
  • In addition, 7+ years industry experience or experience in a high transaction volume or mission critical system
  • Certified AWS/Cloud
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing scalable application architectures.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, third-party integrations, and backend services.
  • Proficient in CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (e.g. Git), and DevOps principles.
  • Strong communication skills
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
  • Experience delivering high quality customer facing design documentation
  • Knowledge in web-based systems architecture, service-based architecture, enterprise application architecture
  • Expert in some or all of the following technologies: Java, J2EE, SOA, JBoss, Tomcat, JDBC, SOAP, REST, OOD/OOA, Sprint Boot, Spring cloud stream, Kafka, Event Driven Micro Services.
  • Experience working with database systems – Oracle, DocumentD

Responsibilities:

The Principal Architect is a key member of the Engineering team and is responsible for the overall technical design of our product.
In this senior role, you will drive architectural decisions, provide technical leadership, and ensure the successful delivery of scalable, high-quality solutions
Reporting into the CTO, you will be working alongside a global team of Technical Leads, Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Test Leads as well as running a team of technical architects.
Our core platform is continuously growing to meet our customer’s needs. We’re looking for someone with excellent design skills to work with key stakeholders to enhance the current functionality, add new features and improve its non-functional specifications. The Principal Architect should be familiar with architectural patterns and have extensive experience in them.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and a team of ~5 technical architects.
  • Define and oversee the overall architecture for the Datalex Platform, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
  • Architect, design, and develop large-scale distributed cloud services and solutions with a focus on high availability, scalability, robustness, and observability.
  • Identify product enhancements required and design these new features
  • Work on key initiatives with Product management.
  • Document designs in a clear, professional manner
  • Reviews of existing systems and ongoing engineering to ensure consistent alignment with the strategic architecture
  • Build productive cross business relationships with both technical and business partners to deliver true enterprise level solutions which meet of stakeholder requirements
  • Identify and implement development environment improvements
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • Create and foster an environment of innovation including remove roadblocks and enable strategic risk taking; advocate and drive change management, enable and model adoption of innovative behaviours and practices
  • Provide architecture thought leadership when selecting tools and setting standards
  • Influence leadership on key decisions as it relates to the technology strategy as well as specific line of business plan
