Description:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business administration or other relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible management work experience.
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Strong organizational skills and a willingness to take initiative.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including professional experience in preparing correspondence, reports, and presentations.
  • A history of meeting deadlines and providing high-quality work.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience coordinating travel arrangements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of policies and procedures in a complex academic institution or similar complex organization.
  • Experience in handling personnel administration.
  • Experience working with executive and other high profile individualsFamiliarity with Washington State University business/fiscal policies, procedures and systems (i.e. Workday).

Responsibilities:

The Principal Assistant (PA) for the Office of Academic and Student Affairs (ASA) will report to the Vice Chancellor and Associate Vice Chancellor for ASA. This position is responsible for carrying out a full range of complex and confidential administrative assignments and providing a wide range of administrative support. Additionally, this position will serve as the liaison for both internal and external constituents concerning issues pertaining to a variety of Academic and Student Affairs matters.
The PA is responsible for coordination of higher level administrative tasks, communication, internal administrative processes, and serves as liaison between ASA, campus business services units, the WSU system, and external partners. In addition, the PA will manage complex calendars, purchasing, reconciliation, budget management, travel arrangements and coordination of events.
Work and information handled by the Principal Assistant requires professionalism, confidentiality and discretion.
