Principal Associate, Change & Transformative Communications
We’re seeking a Principal Associate to join our Corporate Communications team to execute transformative communications that drive successful business outcomes on Cyber and Enterprise Data priorities and initiatives. The successful candidate must be a big picture thinker, who’s focused on efficient, high quality communication deliverables that get folks to take action while reducing friction with the business.
Ultimately, the ideal candidate’s guiding light is driving business outcomes through impactful communications. You’ll get to work with different teams and on a variety of topics from internal product launches, to strengthening adoption of tools and platforms, to training behaviors and best practices to all of Capital One.
We’re looking for an individual who is excited about helping to drive our communications agenda as well as playing an integral part in the evolution of our organization. We need an individual who loves to edit and write, and while you don’t need to be a technical expert, you should be willing to partner with them to translate complicated technical topics into user-focused, succinct and engaging content. We operate in a fast-paced environment with constantly evolving priorities and needs: while we take our work seriously, we don’t take ourselves too seriously.
The candidate should possess excellent written and verbal communications skills along with a curiosity to learn about new technologies/channels, analyze data to make informed strategies, expertise in relationship-building, and strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or Military Experience
- A least 3 years of experience in Communications or Business
- At least 3 years of experience communicating on technical topics, such as software engineering, product management, information security, data, enterprise platforms, or any combination of the five
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree
- At least 4 years of experience in Communications
- At least 1 year of experience with GSuite in a professional environment

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $103,900 - $118,600 for Principal Communications Assoc
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.

Responsibilities:
- Support and help execute communication plans and campaigns that drive transformative work across the Enterprise
- Support and help execute change communication strategies and plans to minimize user impact and friction
- Write, edit and deliver communication content in various channels (weekly newsletter, email, Pulse, slack, etc.)
- Partner with internal customers to determine needs and provide creative, effective solutions
- Interact with product and engineering teams as a communications strategist, recommending impactful communications campaigns
- Manages best practice documentation and templates, handbooks, and change comms editorial calendar
