Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Chartered or approaching chartered status.
  • Environmental and/or engineering degree.
  • Experienced in project delivery from bid preparation to project management.
  • Experienced in technical delivery, particularly hydraulic and hydromorphological modelling techniques.
  • Understanding of legislative requirements and other drivers and ability to communicate with non-specialists.
  • Experience in people management, coordinating and liaising with clients.

Responsibilities:

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Expertise: You’ll bring your unique experience and share your expert knowledge on: Geomorphology / Hydromorphology, River and catchment restoration planning, Design and implementation, Hydraulic and geomorphological / sediment transport modelling, natural solutions and project management.
  • Leadership: Provide coaching to peers and junior team members to aid their development and strengthen our team knowledge.
  • Collaborate: Liaise closely with AECOM teams, internal and external clients/stakeholders.
  • Quality: Adhere to water environment legislation and best practices, sharing this information with colleagues and clients - with particular focuses on the UK, Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland and application of the Water Framework Directive.
  • Growth: Work Winning - Develop internal and external client relationships and business development opportunities.

In this role you will be responsible for high quality project delivery, planning, managing, modelling and designing sustainable geomorphology and river restoration schemes. We’re at the forefront of innovation, delivering an exceptional portfolio of water programmes and projects through long-term partnerships with key clients. A selection of our current and recent projects includes:

  • Re-meandering the River Breamish, part of the River Till-Tweed SSSI and SAC in Northumberland.
  • Restoring meanders, floodplains and wet woodlands along Goldrill Beck, part of the River Eden Tributaries SSSI in the Lake District.
  • Re-meandering the River Eye SSSI in Leicestershire.
  • Restoring the River Lugg SSSI in Herefordshire.
  • Restoring Insh Marshes in the River Spey floodplain in the Scottish Highlands.
  • Analysis and planning of HMWB mitigation measures across the whole of Yorkshire and North East England.
  • Catchment planning for WFD objectives and Nature Recovery Networks nationally.
  • Informing multiple fish pass projects, including a number of weir removals such as on the Afon Dee, and bypasses.
  • Analysing flow and sediment impacts for water transfer Strategic Resource Options, including the River Tame, River Trent, River Humber, and Grand Union Canal.
  • Detailed geomorphological field surveys along the whole route of HS2 Phase 2a.
  • Detailed geomorphological field surveys across the United Utilities region
