A Principal Fire Engineer/Surveyor/Consultant is an experienced team member who provides expert advice on various projects within the built environment throughout different stages of the project life cycle. In addition to their technical expertise, they assume responsibility for managing project tasks and ensuring successful project delivery on large-scale and/or technically challenging projects.
At BB7, a Principal Fire Engineer/Surveyor/Consultant is a crucial project team member. They oversee and fully manage large-scale and/or technical projects and lead a team of Engineers/Surveyors/Consultants. They play a significant role in mentoring and developing their team members’ careers. A Principal Fire Engineer/Surveyor/Consultant is instrumental in securing new business through repeat work and engaging in business development activities.
While all employees are expected to embody the company’s values, the Principal Fire Engineer/Surveyor/Consultant is a role model within a team, consistently producing high-quality work from project inception to completion in line with BB7’s Quality Assurance policy.

SOLID KNOWLEDGE BASE IN FIRE DESIGN, FIRE ASSURANCE AND ENGINEERING

A Principal Fire Engineer/Surveyor/Consultant, at a minimum, has a solid track record of high-quality project delivery through all building stages across a range of sectors in fire design and engineering. This solid knowledge base is key to delivering outstanding consultancy services to clients. With this solid knowledge, a Principal Fire Engineer/Surveyor/Consultant is seen as committed to technical excellence on projects and the go-to person for technical advice.
With this knowledge, the Principal Fire Engineer/Surveyor/Consultant can provide consultant advice that involves understanding the client’s and other key stakeholders’ needs when developing fee proposals and technical solutions for the project. This involves using excellent communication and interpersonal skills and being proactive with clients, not reactive.

REQUIREMENTS

The following points are considered ideal for the role, but each team member may have a different educational background. Ultimately, the following will be discussed with your line manager.
An Engineering Council accredited BEng Hons, MEng, MSc, or equivalent.
Associate Member of IFE/CABE/Engineers Ireland or a relevant professional body is expected

Working on a plan to become Chartered with a body and obtaining Interim CEng. Progress of this should be tracked during check-ins. Again, this is the ideal, and if this cannot be obtained, reasons for not achieving this would need to be discussed and agreed upon with line management.
