We at CAMHS Phoenix are looking for a very enthusiastic, compassionate and proactive individual for the role of Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist . The post holder will co-ordinate, lead and oversee, the systematic provision of a high quality, highly specialist integrated psychological therapies service to young people and their parents/carers accessing Tier 4 Hospital at Home/ Day Patient Mental Health services in Berkshire.
CAMHS Phoenix unit is a specialist provision day care service for Young People between the age 12-18 Years. The service provides co-ordinated, intensive, complex, multi modal interventions designed to facilitate the prevention, diagnosis, management, and evidence-based treatment of severe and enduring mental illness in young people. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team comprising of Consultant Psychiatrists, doctors, therapists, nursing and teaching staff. Members of the clinical team are at times exposed to distressing situations and challenging behaviours. The service provides a range of such therapeutic programmes in a local context which enables continuity of care through a step up, step-down model, and which seeks to provide alternatives to admission inpatient unit, and reduced length of stay in out of area facilities.
Provide a combination of direct service work and provision of consultation and supervision of professional colleagues within the clinical team, and across other sectors of care.
Provide service developments as required to ensure patients receive the most appropriate interventions in a timely way to enable their recovery, balancing the most current research evidence, available resource, and understanding of local and national policy and objectives.
Supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other psychologists and other clinical members of the teams who provide psychologically based care and treatment.
Work autonomously within professional and local guidelines and policies and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service.
Ensure robust risk assessments are completed for all activities off site and that each young person has an appropriate risk assessment for off-site activities in conjunction with the nursing team.
Keep accurate and up to date documentation using RIO on participation in activities and any information relevant to the young person’s presentation or identified concerns/risks.
Attend the handovers and multi-disciplinary team meetings providing feedback on patients and participating in decision making.
