Description:
Applications are invited for an experienced Clinical or Counselling psychologist Psychologist to work in North Tyneside CAMHS. The team caters for children and young people aged 0-18 and their families, who are affected by a variety of mental health difficulties.
We are looking for an enthusiastic motivated team player who is able to contribute to the delivery of psychologically informed assessment, formulation and intervention across CAMHS service. The candidate must have substantial knowledge of a range of mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions as well as being able to deliver a range of therapeutic interventions at a specialist level. The candidate must also have experience of supervising and training other professionals. We are keen to invest in training opportunities for the successful candidate, in order to develop skills and experience to improve service delivery and patient experience.
The post will be based at Albion Road Resource Centre, North Shields but the post holder may be required to work at other sites within the Trust.
The role will involve working across the CAMHS service and managing all aspects of the delivery of psychological assessment, formulation and intervention across a range of mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions. The postholder will represent the wider service and the Trust as part of their role as a senior clinician and will be expected to engage fully in decisions around service modelling and delivery. The successful post holder must be able to role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the Trust. Candidates must be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team and be able to operate at a strategic level.
There will also be opportunities to develop individual interests with regards to all other service contributions across CAMHS and an expectation of working across teams to offer psychological expertise.
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres.

To provide a qualified specialist clinical/counselling psychology service to clients of CAMHS, across all sectors of care; providing specialist psychological assessment and therapy at the same time as offering advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures. To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
Essential previous experience will include: working in mental health services (or equivalent) with children and their families, and experience of working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions; and specifically, assessment within a diagnostic context of such conditions
