  • At least 12-15 years relevant experience as a commercial manager, development manager or property consultant.
  • Ability to work across multiple teams and provide sound commercial advice on a large diverse portfolio.
  • In-depth knowledge of New Zealand property laws, lease agreements, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to develop sound business rules, standardise processes and guidelines
  • Strategic mindset with an ability to identify growth opportunities and enhance value
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to relate cross functionally across the business
  • A common-sense practical mindset and strong decision-making abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure with high integrity and professionalism.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to undertake detailed financial analysis and scenario modelling
  • Sound understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi in relation to property
  • A valid unrestricted New Zealand Driver’s License

Responsibilities:

ABOUT YOU AND YOUR ROLE

The Principal Commercial Advisor role will be responsible for the providing commercial advice on leases across 3 business units within Crown Property. You will engage extensively with our legal team to develop and maintain model lease agreements that are fit for purpose. You will be responsible for creating the framework for property management providing processes, tools and guidance. Additionally, you will provide additional technical support base for the senior property managers (known internally as Senior Customer Regulatory Specialists).
This is a pivotal role to the operational delivery of the team focusing on maximising the return of the Crown estate. Essential to this role is demonstrated experience in providing highly technical commercial and development advice across a complex portfolio.
