Role: Principal Environmental Consultant
Location: Hybrid - Bristol (preferable) / London / Harwell/ Manchester
Role ID: 2025 - 2634
Salary: £50,000 to £65,000 Plus benefits

KEY COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE

  • We are looking to appoint a Principal Environmental Consultant who has relevant experience in the water sector and beyond. Of particular interest is an understanding of and experience in one or more water related environmental technical disciplines, such as water quality (marine and freshwater), surface water management and hydrogeology, and should ideally be able to demonstrate some of the following:
  • Competence and experience in applying detailed knowledge of water quality chemistry.
  • Experience of analysing large datasets of ground and surface water quality data.
  • Understanding of the links between water quality and aquatic ecology.
  • Experience of environmental discharge permitting.
  • Understanding of the sources, fates, effects, and assessment of pollutants.
  • Understanding of a remediation techniques for contaminated ground and surface water.
  • Ability to clearly present complex technical information visually and orally.
  • Experience of technical engagement with UK environmental regulators

WE ALSO REQUIRE THE FOLLOWING KEY COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent understanding of the UK water industry and its regulation.
  • Ability to manage technically complex large water environmental projects.
  • Strong project and programme management/direction skills to ensure a high level of service.
  • Experience in managing proposals and winning work of a sizeable value.
  • Appreciable people manager experience, involving supporting the development of staff through mentoring.
  • An environmentally related degree (ideally with a post-graduate qualification also).
  • A clean full UK driving licence.
