Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind the cloud. CO+I is responsible for delivering over 200 Microsoft web portals, Live and Online Services around the world including infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability. We are looking for a Principal Datacenter Engineering Design Manager who will be responsible for the facilitation and delivery of Microsoft’s industry-leading datacenter designs including the development of innovative technology and advanced concepts from Site Due Diligence through design development, permitting, construction, and the turnover to Operations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering or technical program management
- OR equivalent experience.
- 3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
- 4+ years’ experience in all phases of mission critical and high-tech engineering designs (from site due diligence through design development, permitting, construction, and the turnover to operations).
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering or technical program management
- OR equivalent experience.
- 10+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
- 10+ years’ experience in all phases of mission critical and high-tech engineering designs (from site due diligence through design development, permitting, construction, and the turnover to operations).
Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $135,800 - CAD $253,000 per year.

Responsibilities:
Principal Datacenter Engineering Design Manager will manage the engineering scope, schedule, and budget for greenfield, brownfield and retrofit engineering / design projects. This position will manage internal and external resources for the delivery of the Datacenter building, power, cooling, telecom, and controls infrastructure to align with Microsoft Corporation datacenter capacity roadmap for the Americas.
Principal Datacenter Engineering Design Manager will be responsible for the facilitation and delivery of Microsoft’s industry-leading datacenter designs including the development of innovative technology and advanced concepts from site due diligence through design development, permitting, construction, and the turnover to operations.
This role will provide design management, technical direction, decision-making and overall leadership for our datacenter designs. To be successful in this role the candidate will oversee the delivery of multiple, concurrent, complete Datacenter design solutions aligned with the scopes, schedules, and budgets of the projects.
Principal Datacenter Engineering Design Manager will engage with key MS stakeholder groups within Microsoft as well as outside vendors who specialize in datacenter architecture and engineering.
