UCLA Health’s Ronald Reagan Hospital is seeking to hire a full-time Food Service Worker to join the Department of Nutrition. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting our Catering team, primary duties include:
- Setting up and delivering catering orders
- Ensuring all food and beverage items are properly assembled, delivered on time, and set up
- Breaking down and cleaning up after events, including packing up leftover items
- Portioning out meals and making sure food/drink stations are stocked
- Maintaining a clean and sanitary work area
- Other duties as assigned
Salary range: $19.47/hr - $23.71/hr
Senate Bill 525 was signed into law by Governor Newsom in October 2023. Starting June 1, 2024, SB525 sets a new $23 minimum wage for nonexempt healthcare workers and raises the exempt employee salary threshold to $1,380/week (equivalent to $5,980/month or $71,760/year). 1. As defined under SB525, healthcare workers are defined as employees who are involved in the provision of “health care services,” which means “patient care-related services including nursing; caregiving; services provided by medical residents, interns, or fellows; technical and ancillary services; janitorial work; housekeeping; grounds keeping; guard duties; business office clerical work; food services; laundry; medical coding and billing; call center and warehouse work; scheduling; and gift shop work; but only where such services support patient care”. 2. Employees (career, contract, student, per diem) in the UCLA Health medical facilities (e.g. Ronald Reagan Medical Center, Santa Monica UCLA Hospital, Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, etc.) meet these criteria.
Qualifications
Basic catering skills (delivering, setting up and plating food, etc.)
Prior experience working in food service
Ability to practice safe food handling techniques
Knowledge of portion control and serving procedures
Ability to read, write, and speak in English clearly and effectively to help customers
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
Ability to follow standard recipes
Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with co-workers, customers, supervisors, etc. work
Ability to stand, bend, walk, reach for prolonged period of time in hot or cold areas
Ability to lift, push, or pull 50+ pounds
Ability to work around or use strong cleaning solution
