THE OPPORTUNITY
Due to continued growth, our West Ground Engineering team are seeking a Principal Geo-Environmental Consultant to join the team. With offices in Bristol and Cardiff we can offer you flexibility on which office you choose to work from on a hybrid basis. You’ll also work with colleagues in our Birmingham and Nottingham offices, as well as remotely with our wider UK teams as needed by our clients and projects.
Our teams in these four offices work on local projects which make a difference to the way people live, work, and travel in Wales and West England, as well as projects in the wider UK and international markets which require our technical expertise.
Working within the Ground Engineering team, you will use your existing technical and professional skills and experience to lead others in a variety of geo-environmental activities including contaminated land assessment and waste and materials management, to help deliver projects across a range of markets and sectors. You will have a good understanding of geology and how this can influence the distribution and migration of contaminants in the subsurface, a good understanding of the UK contaminated land assessment framework and Statutory and Non Statutory legislation and guidance in the field of contaminated land. You may hold other complementary skills in ground engineering, hydrogeology and chemistry.
At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective - in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas. You will have the opportunity to do socially useful work that has meaning - to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A background in Environmental Impact Assessments and Environmental Permitting.
- Waste materials assessment and management.
- Design, specification and support of contaminated land ground investigation and monitoring.
- Using digital technologies such as the use of ground data software (Openground, HazWaste Online, etc), GIS, programming, and data processing.
- As a Principal Geo-environmental Consultant, you will already hold chartered status with a relevant UK organisation.
