Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Principal Marine Structural Engineer to join the Ports & Terminals team in our Infrastructure group. New infrastructure and revitalizing assets are a key part of growth for any economy. Job Description: The successful candidate will be a self-motivated established engineer in the ports, marine, and coastal space with demonstrated hands-on experience in designing a broad range of marine structures and port facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Civil Engineering discipline. Master’s Degree preferred in the fields of ports, marine, and/or coastal engineering
- Minimum of 20 years’ experience in detailed design in port and/or marine structures, including development of load cases, detailed structural analysis, and design according to best practice codes and standards, with specific experience using Australian Standards.
- Proficient in structural analysis software: Space Gass, STAAD.pro, Strand 7 (preferred)
- Registered professional engineer in Australia
- Experience in metocean data acquisition, statistical assessment, numerical wave transformation modeling, and application of these on structural design (preferred)
- Experience in mooring analysis and using software such as Optimoor

Responsibilities:
- Accurately define client requirements
- Oversee technical teams in the delivery of port and marine studies or design documentation
- Ensure accurate implementation and adherence to specifications of design solutions delivered to clients, including supervision and sign-off of completed work
- Take on applicable project or task leadership roles and be responsible for the on-time, on-budget, and on-specification delivery of services and solutions
- Lead and contribute to proposals and continue to undertake business development.
- Actively mentor and develop graduates in technical fields of port and marine competencies
- Work within virtual teams in other geographies and business units for seamless delivery to clients in any location
- Coordinate with multiple disciplines to deliver integrated project solutions
- Support business development initiatives
- Collaboratively engage with clients throughout the project lifecycle process
- Engage with maritime technical networks (i.e. PIANC) and be up to date on best practices
- Periodic travel to domestic and international locations might be required for periods of time
