JOB ADVERT SUMMARY

To provide technical guidance and back-up to maintenance personnel, including; optimal asset integrity and productivity, increased availability and reliability, reduced cost and risk and improved profitability. To ensure our asset care activities achieve 98% availability of our production equipment through the latest maintenance techniques.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate) • Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering • 5 years hands on experience in mechanical maintenance improvement environment of rotary equipment in water industry which includes – preventive, corrective & overhaul. • Maintenance of the following: Centrifugal pumps (back pullout/vertically split, end supported/horizontally split, multistage, vertical and submersible. • Centrifugal blowers, reciprocating compressors, axial and radial compressors, gearboxes, shaft alignment, mechanical seals, white metal bearings • Computer literacy • A valid driver’s license with the ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 driver test

KNOWLEDGE

• Application of RCM principles • Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis • Sound knowledge of bearings, linkages, lubrication, loads & tolerances • Mechanical benchmarking techniques • Advanced mechanical fault - finding techniques • sound understanding of mecHanical design • knowledge of pumps and velues • Condition monitoring techniques for critical assets • Knowledge on Water Purification Processes

SKILLS

u• budgeting and cost control • planning and organising, verbal and literacy skills • implementation of asset management principles • Ability to read and analyze complex mechanical layout drawings and to develop scope of work and specifications. • Experience in training and coaching skills. • Able to work under pressure

Responsibilities:

• Periodic asset management and life - cycle costing • Provide technical expertise and assistance. • Commission mechanical installation on site. • Assist in inspection of equipment for its healthiness. • Perform technical investigations. • Maximize availability and reliability of the plant equipment. • Implement technical improvement to machine performance through design changes.
