Description:
PRINCIPAL MECHANICAL & PIPING ENGINEER

To support our mission, we are currently seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical & Piping Engineer to join our team in Montreal. The role offers exposure to local and internationally based projects which includes commodities such as Brine extraction and processing, base and precious metals, coal, iron ore and many more.
To maintain and improve the standard of relevant mechanical engineering within Sedgman with a focus on planning and coordinating complex engineering design assignments entailing technical specifications and detailed planning, recommending changes to specifications or design engineering standards as appropriate.
This challenging role is for someone with the apatite to be involved in new and ground breaking technology and to be a part of a dynamic, innovative and energetic team.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Prepare PFS and detailed design drawings of plant, equipment, services, or other structures as directed
- Proficient in Piping flexibility and stress analysis using recognised simulation software based on international codes such as DIN, ISO etc.
- Knowledge of piping and structural modelling advantages
- Plant Layout development based on reliability, maintainability, operability, construction methodology etc.
- Oversee the preparation of design and detail drawings from plans, sketches, or other design/specification data.
- Develop equipment specifications, data sheets and scope of work required for procurement and certified equipment selection.
- Contribute to periodic reporting e.g., Project progress, resource requirements, Project budget versus cost, priorities, allocation of work, team needs
- Ensure checking and review processes are completed. Review designs to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes, Canadian/ International Standards and Sedgman Standards
- Comply with the Change Management process for engineering design
- Upkeep of deliverables list and percentage complete status
- Participate in the development and continuous improvement of the Quality management process and system
- Understand Project and Sedgman standard specifications, typical/standard drawings, and calculations/simulations to reflect current industry standards
