Our Land team are seeking Principal/Associate Land Consultants to join our UK team. The location is flexible - you can join one of our professional teams in London or Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the largest Land business in the UK and to make a meaningful and lasting contribution to the success of high-profile infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland. Your focus of this exciting new role and opportunity is to help manage the delivery of detailed, high quality land ownership information and provide land advice to our clients for a pipeline of some of the most exciting infrastructure projects in the UK today.
Our clients develop major rail, energy, highways and water infrastructure for which they need government approval. As a Principal/Associate Land Consultant, you will provide technical GIS advice and develop, our in-house GIS capability through your experience in management and innovation of spatial solutions. You will work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, leading change to existing processes to drive greater efficiencies, accuracy and solutions for our clients.
You will provide support to the project owner by delivering technical elements of projects on time, within budget and to the agreed standards.
There are further opportunities to provide solutions to growing and new sectors and regions, working alongside our Digital, Environmental and Planning colleagues to gain a broader understanding of infrastructure development. WSP will support your chartership and membership with professional institutions and facilitate volunteering in local communities.
About You
WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE:
- A degree and/or masters in Geography, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) (or a relevant discipline) or relevant technical experience
- Detailed knowledge and experience of spatial requirements to support UK statutory consents requirements, such as a hybrid Bill, TWAO, DCO, CPO, and/or Vesting Order as well as an understanding of the land and property industry
- Excellent GIS capability, experience and knowledge
- The ability to work calmly in a fast-paced environment
- Evidence of leading teams to deliver complex work
- Excellent communication and organisational skills and ability to liaise at all levels with both internal and external shareholders
- Confidence and experience in providing technical advice to clients
- Highly motivated and with good industry network
- Enthusiasm for continuous professional development, and professional accreditation
About the role
We are seeking an experienced individual to join our established Land Services team based in the UK. The successful candidate will work alongside colleagues to develop digital and geospatial solutions across a range of sectors, including planning, renewable energy, transport, waste and water management.
- Manage and coordinate the technical spatial delivery element of land referencing projects
- Ensure collaboration is embedded within the culture of team and project delivery and bring improvements in quality of delivery to clients
- Enable the roll out of GIS solutions and training within service line
- Lead on quality assurance of deliverables and drive and promote innovation within team to improve working practices.
- Lead delivery of training on technical topics
- Work closely with the Project leadership team, building relationships and raising the profile of WSP
- Lead on and contribute to business development and client relationship management (externally and internally) through the promotion of GIS and data solutions
- Support the writing of bids/tenders to secure opportunities from internal and external clients
- Develop efficient working practices to provide industry leading, best value services to our clients
- Lead weekly / monthly project meetings with the team and client as appropriate
- Support the Land UAV capability and service
- Compile geographic datasets into ArcGIS Enterprise geodatabase
- Support the teams in designing, coding, integrating, testing, and deploying bespoke GIS functionality, scripts, tools, and web applications in answer to client requirements.
- Develop and maintain QA on datasets and outputs.
- Providing GIS technical mentoring to junior GIS staff.
- Undertake own continuous professional development and stay up to date with the latest GIS developments.
- Developing and management of cloud-based GIS environments and solutions using ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Experience Builder, ArcGIS Field Maps, ArcGIS Survey 123 and ArcGIS Online
- Developing desktop and cloud-based GIS workflows and tools – using ESRI, QGIS and Safe-FME software.
- Ensure that the team has the necessary skills and resources in order to deliver successful projects and grow the business; Contribute to the business strategy
- UK travel, on occasions
- Coordinate PinPoint development discussions with colleagues in iCRC
