We are seeking a Principal Pipeline Engineer for gas and liquid pipelines, to join our Energy Team in Calgary, Alberta.
The main duties of this role are associated with the leadership of the Mott MacDonald Canadian Pipeline Engineering team. The requirements of this role include:

Conduct pipeline engineering reviews of all major Canadian pipeline projects.

  • Provide oversight and mentorship to technical staff, ranging from junior to senior levels.
  • Represent pipeline engineering in Canadian business development initiatives.
  • Lead the delivery of pipeline projects and assume Engineer of Record responsibilities.
  • Support the management and expansion of our Canadian energy pipeline business.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Drive the growth and development of key accounts in alignment with organizational needs and Mott MacDonald’s strategy.
  • Identify opportunities and convert them into viable prospects.
  • Support the bidding process, ensuring bids are technically and commercially robust.

As the qualified candidate, you possess:
-

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or equivalent.

  • Professional Engineer registration in Alberta and British Columbia.
  • 15+ years of pipeline engineering experience.
  • Strong technical leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Lead engineer on various pipeline engineering packages from conceptual design to detailed IFC packages.
  • Engineer of Record for authenticating IFC detailed pipeline engineering packages.
  • In-depth knowledge of gas and liquid pipeline design, construction codes, regulations, and industry practices, including CSA, API, and ASME standards.
  • Experience in developing and implementing technical processes and procedures.
  • Expertise in core pipeline engineering design: alignment sheet development, crossing design, route selection, pipeline sizing, material selection, buoyancy control, stress analysis, and hydrostatic testing.
  • Good understanding of key pipeline design interfaces: construction inputs (ROW, workspace design, constructability), geotechnical programs and design (terrain evaluation, geohazards), hydrotechnical program and design (scour depth, flood levels), and environmental interface.
