About the Role:
The purpose of the Principal Product Lead is to provide technology leadership to the Trading and Portfolio business units, with a primary focus on Trading systems build & run. The role represents a desire for greater partnership between business and technology, particularly given the complexity of the Energy Trading environment. It is an exciting opportunity to develop and learn more about Energy Trading as well as build and grow an efficient and capable technology team.
What you’ll be doing:
- Work closely with key business and technology stakeholders to establish a Trading and Portfolio technology vision and roadmap aligned against the business strategy
- Guiding the delivery of the Trading and Portfolio technology strategic plan, including delivering capital programs and managing the operational performance and continuous improvement of over 20 specialised IT systems
- Acting as an enabler and agent of change as AGL sets sights on transitioning its generation portfolio and capitalising on the significant investment made in the trading systems over the last 3 years.
- Driving and owning technology outcomes by genuinely partnering across the technology and business functions, to achieve overall BU outcomes
- Draw on a broad set of IT experience to ensure the most appropriate tools, processes, ways of working are being utilised and used appropriately
- Evolve and improve the team’s capability, culture and engagement
- Develop talent, and actively nurture, coach and promote individuals to maximise their potential
- Work closely with Delivery Leads, Product Owners and Business Analysts to ensure delivery priorities are maintained and executed to
About You:
You will ideally have a strong background in Australian energy markets with and a detailed understanding of trading, trading analytics, trading risk or trading finance, but your advanced interpersonal skills, ability to build strong relationships and ability to implement meaningful changes will set you up for success.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- Tertiary qualifications in a IT, commercial or similar discipline
- A detailed understanding of Australian and international energy markets and the emerging challenges faced with new renewable and storage assets
- The ability to comprehend complex systems, how they are used by the business, their interdependencies and their limitations
- The ability to optimise the use of complex data across trade lifecycles
- Advanced communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
- Experience developing and implementing change and communication strategies and materials for a diverse audience
- Extensive experience in a product management or leadership role
