Role responsibilities
The REACH Regulatory Program Lead works closely with the EMEA Team Lead, Partners, Clients, and Consultants within their group to ensure delivery of projects to a high quality and support the continued growth of the global chemical registration business. He/she will be responsible for the overall performance of a group of circa 15 consultants located across Northern, Central and Southern Europe. Key tasks include resource management and capacity planning, oversight of training and development, performance review and recruitment support as well as support on business development and program management for key clients.
Using their experience of global chemical registration, he/she will also be expected to support the business in growing our REACH and REACH-like services. This could be through the development of a new chemical regulatory service and/or working closely with a global key account team to expand a chemical regulatory program of work we are delivering for one or more of ERM’s clients.
Other responsibilities include (not limited to):
- Oversee the onboarding of direct reports and provide support to line managers within the group, as required
- Manage resources using a scheduling tool to review the work pipeline and identify potential capacity issues
- Effectively allocate project tasks within the group, considering task requirements, experience levels, capacity, client relationships, etc
- Monitor workloads within the group and facilitate task-sharing when necessary to meet billability targets
- Promote and ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies in the workplace, including addressing workload and well-being concerns
- Conduct talent reviews for group members and support staff in their personal development and promotion plans
- Identify appropriate training courses and conferences for group members
- Understand client objectives and collaborate to ensure deliverables meet the required quality standards
- Work closely with clients, representing ERM in client meetings, and serve as a primary contact for select key clients
- Provide support to clients and internal teams regarding REACH and REACH-like regulations, as needed
- Contribute to the commercial growth of the business by participating in business development activities such as client visits, conferences, and expert groups, as relevant to your area of expertise
- Assist with costing and capacity planning for project proposals
About You
- Educated to degree level in chemical or related disciplines such as biology or chemistry
- At least 5 years of working knowledge of EU REACH and non-EU chemical regulations. Previous experience with national or EU chemical regulatory bodies would be an advantage
- Experience in preparing and submitting dossiers for chemical registrations, including practical knowledge of IUCLID and regulatory agency portals, would be an advantage but is not essential
- Industrial experience in either the chemical or automotive industry would be beneficial
- Proven line management skills, with experience managing a team remotely
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with others and a passion for helping others develop
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to listen, organise, and prioritise effectively
