OUR OPPORTUNITY

Work Location: Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday – Friday
An exciting opportunity exists for a Principal Rehabilitation Specialist to join the Fortescue Projects and Closure team to support the company’s current and future iron-ore mining operations. The role will lead our strategic vision to spearhead the growth in our rehabilitation planning and execution processes. The Rehabilitation Specialist will provide technical advice and support to the business in all aspects of rehabilitation.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, solutions-based, adaptive candidate who is eager to pursue opportunities through collaboration, curiosity and proactivity. This role will champion and deliver a step change improvement in rehabilitation performance at Fortescue.
Infrequent domestic and international travel may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification) in a relevant technical discipline.
  • A proven track record of leading rehabilitation planning and execution and delivery in the field.
  • Specialist knowledge in rehabilitation, within a large scale mining or industrial context in the Pilbara (or similar) region.
  • Ability to effectively influence and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve required outcomes.
  • Application of strategic thought to clear and pragmatic decision-making to achieve business outcomes.
  • Ability to identify and business risks and opportunities, positioning for and managing change in priorities.
  • Skilled in GIS (required) and Mine Planning Software (highly desirable).

Responsibilities:

  • Development and implementation of a rehabilitation strategy focused on progressive rehabilitation opportunities and rehabilitation techniques to meet closure outcomes.
  • Lead the development and implementation of rehabilitation governance systems (Standards / Guidelines / Tools) to define performance expectations for rehabilitation.
  • Support in the development of the rehabilitation team at Fortescue.
  • Identify opportunities for Fortescue to lead or support trials and research in to novel rehabilitation techniques to improve rehabilitation performance and closure outcomes.
  • Develop high quality rehabilitation plans and cost estimates and provide technical rehabilitation expertise to operational sites and projects implementing those plans.
  • Own, develop and oversee the acquisition and reporting of rehabilitation performance data meeting key internal and external requirements, and support tracking of performance against key performance indicators.
  • Assess key external trends in rehabilitation performance and expectations, with the potential to create opportunity or risk.
  • Represent Fortescue with external stakeholders including industry, representative bodies, communities, traditional owners and regulatory bodies.
