We are searching for the best talent for a Principal Scientist Biopharmaceutics to be located in Beerse, Belgium.
The biopharmaceutics group is part of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Pharmaceutical Product Development & Supply. The group supports the drug product design process for both early and late development projects by characterizing and optimizing the link between the physicochemical properties of the active ingredient, drug product and it’s in vivo behavior.
You will be responsible for:
- Designing, programing, and executing experimental work related to the biopharmaceutical profiling for development projects in the J&J synthetics portfolio; including supporting the selection of the appropriate a patient-centric drug delivery system and route of administration that meet the needs described in the Target Product Profile
- Building in silico mechanistic models to predict drug absorption and disposition based upon physiological, physicochemical and in vitro dissolution input data
- Digitalizing the interface between the drug product and the physiological target via specialized software applications (for multiple delivery routes)
- Actively cooperate with external partners including academic and private research organizations to stay iat the forefront of emerging scientific, industrial, and regulatory standards in the field of biopharmaceutics
- Build and demonstrate strong partnerships with key stakeholders including Discovery Sciences, Preclinical DMPK, Non-Clinical Safety, Clinical Pharmacology, Regulatory Affairs, API Development, Drug Product Development and Analytical Development
QUALIFICATIONS
- Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering or related science with relevant industrial experience in biopharmaceutics (> 5 years).
- Relevant experience with drug absorption and disposition modelling (e.g. PBPK/PBBM)), in vitro biopharmaceutics (e.g. artificial release systems that are predictive for the clinical behavior of the compound), and design of in vivo studies (preclinical and clinical)
- Sound and proven knowledge of API physico-chemistry, drug absorption/disposition principles, formulation development and optimization, pharmacokinetics, and mechanistic design.
- Scientific specialist via a single contributor role, with excellent interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills, while demonstrating a high degree of personal accountability.
