EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Experience: Proven track record in computational chemistry, with a focus on polymers.
  • Skills: Proficiency in molecular modeling software (e.g., Gaussian, GROMACS, LAMMPS) and programming languages (e.g., Python, C++).
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of polymer chemistry, thermodynamics, and statistical mechanics.

As a Computational Chemist in our Digital R&D team at Victrex, you will:

  • Innovate: Design and perform computational experiments to predict monomer and polymer behaviour and properties’
  • Collaborate: Work closely with experimental chemists, materials scientists, and engineers to validate and refine computational models.
  • Discover: Explore new frontiers in polymer chemistry, from biodegradable plastics to high-performance composites.
  • Optimize: Utilize molecular dynamics, quantum mechanics, and machine learning to optimize polymer synthesis and processing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and perform computational experiments to predict monomer and polymer behaviour and properties.
  • Develop and implement new algorithms for polymer simulation and analysis.
  • Interpret computational data to guide the synthesis and testing of new materials.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate computational insights into real-world applications.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in computational chemistry and polymer science.
