The Microsoft Feedback Platform team builds the data platform that ingests and processes millions of pieces of customer feedback from several 1P and 3P sources. The platform leverages AI to power how hundreds of engineering teams across Microsoft; including Teams, Office, Outlook, Edge and Windows organizations; listen to customer feedback at scale, act upon it and close the loop with customers.
We are looking for a transformative principal software engineer to architect the new, modern architecture for our data platform and transform it into a push-based AI insights system that delivers the right, timely, actionable insights to our customers in the right time and context. Thousands of individuals at Microsoft depend upon our data platform every month to glean mission critical insights from customer feedback.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 6+ year experience working as an IC on big data platforms leveraging architecture like Lambda architecture.
- Experience in designing scalable distributed system architectures, microservices, and robust CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience collaborating with numerous stakeholders simultaneously across organizational boundaries.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

- OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 6+ year experience working as an IC on big data platforms leveraging architecture like Lambda architecture.
- Experience in designing scalable distributed system architectures, microservices, and robust CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience in AI and machine learning including NLP, LLM and building AI-driven systems.
- Experience collaborating with numerous stakeholders simultaneously across organizational boundaries.
- Demonstrated thought leadership in technical strategy and direction setting.
Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
