Description:

Verus Research is searching for a Principal Software Engineer to lead and manage high-profile research and development projects within our Space and Autonomy portfolio for the Department of Defense (DoD).
The Principal Software Engineer candidate should be a leader and problem-solver with a proven ability to deliver superior results as part of a high-performing team in a high-profile, fast-paced environment. The candidate will apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts for highly classified systems, while also effectively communicating complex results with management and executive leadership. The Principal Software Engineer will work as part of a larger team with customers, external partners, vendors, scientists, developers, engineers, managers, technicians, and support personnel. The position requires working with tech-savvy customers, identifying their requirements, generating technical reports, formulating execution strategies, and working with diverse internal technical teams. The Principal Software Engineer will also work closely with our senior staff in identifying and pursuing additional growth areas.

Responsibilities:

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Active Top Secret SCI clearance
  • Masters degree in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar
  • 10+ years systems engineering experience related to space and/or ground systems
  • Expert knowledge in development, integration, test and delivery of software applications for both ground and flight software applications for spacecraft
  • Experience:
  • with establishing agile software development and test environments and implementing CI/CD pipelines
  • working in multiple programming languages (e.g., Python, Matlab, C++, etc.), classification environments, and implementing cross-domain solutions
  • in DoD program management, including program development and transition
  • with Integrated Master Schedules and risk managemen
