With a statutory role to advance the financial interests and development of the State, we help to deliver innovative, long-term solutions that contribute to the growth of Queensland’s economy. We protect Queensland’s financial interests and deliver better financial outcomes by centralising the management of our clients’ borrowings, cash investments, and foreign exchange.
At Queensland Treasury Corporation (QTC), our Advisory Division is on a mission to drive financial sustainability and operational excellence across Queensland’s Government Departments, Local Governments and Government-Owned Corporations. We’re passionate about supporting our clients in achieving their goals and making a lasting impact. We strike a fine balance working alongside government but within a unique corporate setting.

QTC are seeking an experienced Principal to join the Sustainability team as part of our growing Advisory Division in Brisbane.

  • Reporting to the team Director, lead the Whole of State (WOS) Emissions Modelling Team, who will be responsible for the development and operation of advanced data modelling and analysis packages, that will support and inform problem solving and decision making with a high attention to detail.
  • Contribute to the preparation and presentation of industry, financial and economic advice to inform Queensland’s pathway to net zero and provide insight into the cost of abatement and the structural challenges emerging from the transition to a low carbon economy, including implications for industry, government and the economy.
  • Support the development of reporting tools to measure and track the status of Queensland’s emissions reduction progress.
  • Manage external consultants who may be engaged to support the development of models, or provide ad hoc bespoke analysis, investigations or research.
  • Take a lead role in self and team development, demonstrating progression of development and willingness to take on stretch opportunities.
  • Stay informed about trends in sustainability and support the identification of implications and opportunities for Queensland.
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in decarbonisation technologies and bring innovative ideas to support strategic growth.
  • Support the wider Industry, Investment and Commercial portfolio and Advisory Division to deliver excellent client outcomes.
  • Travel within Australia may be required to fulfil the requirements of this role
