JOB DESCRIPTION

Our Charter: Deter. Prevent. Detect. Respond.
Our Mission: Safeguard the United States’ most critical technologies from exploitation to maintain our battlefield pre-eminence.
Our Need: Creative and innovative engineers with prior systems, hardware, or software engineering experience with the potential to outthink world class reverse engineers.
In a modern approach to “Spy vs Spy,” BAE Systems uses state-of-the-art technology, advanced mathematics, and physics in novel ways to protect our systems and provide our customers with capability that endures.
Our engineers design solutions that achieve the optimum balance between product capability and defense-in-depth security. They apply all the lessons learned to our model-based design approach and frequently advance security state-of-the-art. They take their creative and innovative spirit to the extreme by playing the part of adversary through their identification of attack vectors. They propose countermeasures that provide the greatest protection at the best value for the system’s entire lifecycle.
BAE Systems is currently seeking creative, innovative problem solvers who are able to analyze, assess, anticipate, defend, and react to current and future attacks. Candidates should be capable of working in a team environment designing and implementing innovative protection schemes with rapidly evolving technologies used in various applications throughout the company.
BAE Systems’ salary and benefits include 401(k) matching, employee discount programs, and work schedule flexibility such as alternating Fridays off. The company culture emphasizes professional and personal growth through a Multicultural Network that supports cross-cultural initiatives and employee-sponsored groups promoting greater diversity, equity, and inclusion through networking, programs, and activities.

Our Systems Engineers do a lot of amazing things, but for this role in particular you will:

  • Design security architectures based on requirements from your analysis of adversary threats and proposed countermeasures
  • Implement and test security countermeasures according to the guidance provided by the U.S. Government
  • Work with Security State of the Art (S-SOTA) technologies
  • Provide our customers with sophisticated, defense-in-depth security solutions

Because of the need for consistent, in person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full time on site.
This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

This role involves understanding systems engineering techniques and processes and requires a Bachelor’s Degree plus six or more years of work experience.

Additional critical skills include:

  • Writing System Requirements
  • Defining System Architectures
  • Integrating Hardware and Software
  • Validating and Verifying the delivered solution

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

Our team analyzes adversary attacks and proposes hardware, software, and systems engineering countermeasures capable of providing defense-in-depth. We are very interested in candidates with any of the following experience:

  • Cryptographic algorithm implementation
  • Configuring security features of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) S-SOTA components
  • Firmware development for COTS S-SOTA components such as Xilinx or Microsemi FPGAs
  • Applying secure coding practices, securing operating systems, and virtualization
  • Implementing and configuring security protocols
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering using Cameo or MagicDraw

Responsibilities:

  • Design security architectures based on requirements from your analysis of adversary threats and proposed countermeasures
  • Implement and test security countermeasures according to the guidance provided by the U.S. Government
  • Work with Security State of the Art (S-SOTA) technologies
