Job Description
The Principal Systems Engineer performs requirements analysis and management, technical planning, systems level design, systems integration, verification and validation, cost and risk management, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Also performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into systems specifications. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal. Ensure the logistical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total system solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints.

This position will work on the ROEM 155mm Howitzer program primarily and help as needed in other areas.

  • Support system level electro-mechanical and weapons systems integration planning, execution, and reporting
  • Support NPI activities related to systems integration and test – this includes leading system integration efforts for the hands-on evaluation of prototypes
  • Ability to work with and train assembly and engineering technicians on integration and troubleshooting procedures
  • Prepare technical integration documentation, such as plans, procedures, specifications, and integration information sheets
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues found during installation or test
  • Record and track test failures from finding to complete resolution
  • Utilize data analysis results to support issue identification and resolution as well as system level requirements verification
  • Communicate with internal and external customers to find technical solutions to complex requirements with the help of our design authority
  • Listen to customer requirements to identify gaps in production and test procedures and take steps to reduce or eliminate these gaps
  • Provide systems engineering and integration support to assess, plan, coordinate, and implement production improvement projects
  • Develop and improve test procedures to ensure test configurations are properly controlled and documented – identify areas of high risk and work with the team to develop test plans to mitigate risk
  • Develop test roadmaps and plans that balance development timelines, technical risk mitigation, and program schedules and priorities.
  • Prepare and/or deliver technical presentations to customers, Elbit America Management or development teams
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 50% through 2024 and up to 25% after 2024
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably electrical, mechanical, systems, or software)
  • BS +9 years related experience in complex electro-mechanical systems engineering experience -or- MS +7 years related experience
  • Proficiency in office technologies including Excel, PowerPoint and MS Word.
  • Proficiency with continuous process improvement methodologies and tool.
  • Ability to compile and interpret business system data.
  • Ability to communicate with management and other functional personnel.
  • Skilled in working in teams.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, preferably mechanical, electrical, systems, or software
  • Lean/Six-Sigma green belt certified (or higher)
  • Experience with DoD and government contract work
  • Extensive development experience in at least one or more of the following engineering disciplines is required: software, mechanical, electrical, optics, fluidics and should possess knowledge of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership as required during the investigation of complex electro-mechanical weapons systems. Accountable to oversee the development of requirements for different disciplines such as Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Electro-optics and others
