Description:
ABOUT THE JOB.
National Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Principal Technology Engineer to join our team in the Midlands region. As a Principal Engineer you will provide technical expertise and leadership in the identification and evaluation of technology asset specific needs and early solutions, while assuring adherence to defined asset policies and standards.
You will be required to drive as part of your role and you will need to have a full driving license, with no more than 3 points, to be considered for this position.
This position can be based in Birmingham or Nottingham, with a balance of remote and office-based work.
- The identification and evaluation of asset data and needs to develop early solutions, in line with agreed methodologies and prioritisation criteria. Developing early solutions for improvements and/or renewals, including the compiling of relevant documents, evidence and options for value management while taking into account new techniques, materials, buildability and costs.
- Identifying, preparing briefs and managing delivery of survey works that support the improvement and/or renewal of assets. Assisting with developing the regions asset led forward programme and initial scheme development.
- Ensuring that asset data and condition information is captured and maintained in the relevant database(s), in line with agreed standards and timescales. Attending Factory Acceptance tests, Site acceptance tests and validation exercises including signing off on successful completion.
- Providing technical support to Project Managers by assisting with development of technical work briefs, materials approvals, vetting of contractors’ compliance, inspection support on site, and reviewing health and safety files. Reviews of third-party designs for compliance to design and maintenance requirements.
- Delivery of work packages/tasks and providing support and direction to junior colleagues in accordance with quality, budget and timescales. Provision of technical support to Service Delivery teams and external maintenance contractors including fault analysis.
