OBJECTIVE

The Senior Research Assistant will directly report to the Head of the Department and work effectively with the other team members to achieve common objectives. Conducts research experimental tasks in the fields of cellular, molecular biology and animal studies. To contribute to multiple research projects linked to cellular metabolism, diabetes and associated complications.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERTISE:

Requirements

• Experience in molecular biology, functional genomics and gene expression analysis using different approaches.
• Western Blots and Tissue culture experience.
• Education: BSc/MSc degree in biology, immunology or life sciences.
• Minimum of, 2–4-year track record of lab experience. Familiarity with general cellular biology and immunology techniques, including PCR, ELISA, cell culture, transfection, media making, etc. Should be well organized, self-motivated and possess excellent time management skills. Flexibility required to work after regular working hours or weekends, if needed.

Roles & Responsibilities
· Conducts Western blotting, conventional and real-time PCR, and flow cytometry.
· Performs cell culture experiments.
· Performs experimental animal work related to the projects as needed.
· Experience with basic and advanced microscopy and imaging.
· Executes experimental work in collaboration with other team members.
· Performs data analysis and communicates and presents scientific findings at lab meetings.
· Maintains detailed experimental records and laboratory notebook.
· Troubleshoots and optimizes assays and maintains careful records.
· Performs general housekeeping tasks in the laboratory.
· Maintains inventory of reagents and chemicals.
· Performs other duties as assigned by scientist/unit head and Liaison with institute policies.
· Completes assigned tasks/targets within given deadlines.
· Performs other related duties as assigned by the Head of Unit.
