Description:
We are seeking an experienced Trusts and Estates Attorney to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in trusts and estates law, with a strong understanding of Connecticut law. This role requires someone who is not only detail-oriented and knowledgeable but also enjoys working directly with clients to help them plan for their futures.
Qualifications:
- Active membership with the ABA (American Bar Association)
- Candidates should be great communicators, specifically in situations when emotions and stress are high
- Working knowledge of title insurance, wills, trusts, property management, and residential and commercial real estate law, including litigation
- Undergraduate degree with a legal background and Juris Doctor degree required
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in the Connecticut State Bar.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in trusts and estates law.
- Deep knowledge of Connecticut estate planning, probate, and trust law.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A team player with a positive attitude and a sense of humor.
- Love of dogs and chocolate a plus
Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Draft, review, and finalize estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
- Provide legal advice and counsel to clients on estate planning, probate, and trust administration.
- Represent clients in probate court and during estate administration processes.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop comprehensive estate plans tailored to clients’ needs.
- Stay current on changes in Connecticut estate law and advise clients accordingly.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through excellent communication and client service.

- Educate clients about options for retirement, donating to charity, and purchasing insurance
- Ensure clients are effectively represented at court hearings as needed
- Prepare wills, trusts, and power of attorney documents
- Collaborate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move files through the civil litigation process
- Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept curren
