DESCRIPTION
The surgery procedural scheduler primary duties include but are not limited to:
The surgery procedural scheduler is responsible for performing detailed clerical functions required to maintain the automated operating room scheduling system. Responsibilities include entering and updating data, extracting patient demographics and surgical procedure information along with necessary requirements from surgical information sheets and inputting into EPIC (electronic medical record system) coordinating all surgical procedures and assuring that all the appropriate clinical coding information is collected for the surgery schedule. Scheduler receives requests to schedule procedures from physician offices and schedules the procedure according to established guidelines. Monitors, verifies, and confirms tentative schedules for any discrepancies in OR room schedules and equipment assigned for specific procedures and contacts appropriate service to confirm or resolve. Posts add-on and emergency cases to scheduling system as required. Prints preliminary and final schedules for operating rooms daily and communicates with necessary departments to assign required staff. Considerable contact with staff from clinical and surgical services is required. This is not a remote position.
