Job Position Summary
The Process & Asset Reliability Manager will lead the Leeds Make Asset Management (MAM) team, overseeing the tactical management of process engineering, project management, asset reliability, calibration, and equipment maintenance for all onsite manufacturing processes. This role involves setting high-level visions, key initiatives, and project plans for supply chain engineering performance metrics, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet customer requirements. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Essential:

  • Degree in relevant Engineering/Science discipline.
  • 8-10 years of experience in Maintenance/Operations/Engineering roles in large companies.
  • Proven experience in process engineering, project management, and asset reliability management.
  • Effective decision-making and leadership skills.
  • Data-driven, with strong financial acumen.

Desirable:

  • Experience in medical devices or regulated manufacturing.
  • Knowledge in furnace/porocoat processes, CNC machining, calibration, clean room environments, and packaging.
  • Familiarity with FDA, MDR, ISO standards.
  • Certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or structured problem-solving techniques.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote a “Quality First, Safety Always” culture.
  • Collaborate with management to establish strategic engineering goals and objectives.
  • Support the execution of engineering and plant initiatives.
  • Partner with departments to position MedTech as a leading orthopaedics facility within J&J.
  • Lead Engineering and Technical Services to achieve outstanding business results.
  • Design and execute programs for engineering project estimates.
  • Direct technical resources to support key projects, manufacturing processes, and product technology.
  • Develop performance measures and strategic resources for the Multi-Family Supply Chain Engineering department.
  • Communicate policies and ensure team compliance with operating procedures and regulations.
  • Manage team operations including workflow, performance, and compliance to meet goals within timelines and budgets.

Supply Focus:

  • Attend daily Value Stream meetings and ensure timely action completion.
  • Support Root Cause Analysis on supply and quality issues using tools like 8D/A3 and Six Sigma.
  • Timely and accurate project activity reporting.

Cost Focus:

  • Management of the engineering budget for the areas of responsibility.
  • Manage the consumables budget through the execution of the activities committed to in the Business Plan meeting financial targets.
  • Lead a structured approach to scrap reduction within the value streams through data capture, analysis and problem-solving meeting commitments made in the Business Plan.
  • Provide updates to management on a weekly and monthly basis in relation to financial performance in the areas of scrap and consumables.

People Management:

  • Clearly define responsibilities and objectives for team members.
  • Conduct effective performance management and mentorship.
  • Develop performance improvement and development plans in line with strategic goals.
  • Identify training needs and development opportunities.

Technical Operations:

  • Ensure collaboration between various departments for product introductions and changes.
  • Develop Capital Investment requirements for cost improvements and capacity increases.
  • Maintain plant and equipment to high standards, replace obsolete equipment as necessary.
  • Oversee Preventative Maintenance programs and manage the maintenance team.

Quality and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all regulations and quality operations.
  • Respond timely to customer complaints and audit non-conformance issues.
