As Process Engineering Design Lead for our Scottish Business unit, you will be in charge of a growing team who are responsible for Process solutions design of Water and Waste Water Treatment and transmission facilities across Scotland, and supporting other parts of the UK.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Solution design experience of Water and Wastewater Treatment facilities
  • Chartered or Incorporated (CEng/IEng) or working towards would be strongly desirable
  • Process/ Chemical Engineering Degree / HND / HNC or equivalent in engineering or related discipline.
  • Water company design specifications and standards knowledge is a strong requirement
  • Proven track record in process solution development in design
  • Team leadership experience
  • Experience with IT systems, MS Office suite, SharePoint, and other data management systems
  • High attention to detail with ability to work accurately with varying quality and amount of data
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities:

AS THE PROCESS ENGINEERING DESIGN LEAD YOUR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:

  • Lead designs within our Scottish Water framework to ensure compliance and timely delivery
  • Leading the Process Design team to support the delivery of design and build projects and programmes of work from Scotland, but throughout the UK
  • Attend or lead design review meetings taking into cognisance client specifications, contractual elements and any other client requirements
  • Mentoring and development of staff from graduate and apprentice level through to senior design engineers
  • Support governance of projects at all stages from a Process and solutions perspective
  • Asses, maintain and challenge quality levels and measures along with business targets to ensure compliance and good practice at all times
  • Report and review of design information regarding the various Programmes of work
  • Interact and contribute to the Design Lead forums with other disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Integration and CAD)
  • Champion innovation in Process design and collation of good practice across the discipline
  • Resource capacity planning across the discipline
  • Assist with the development of a KPI reporting suite for the function
  • Work with Delivery Teams to ensure benefits and outcomes are captured and accurately reported
  • Focus on people and process development for the function
  • Assist the business with Carbon Calculation and reporting, leading efforts to reduce Carbon emissions and bring it to the forefront of design and delivery thinking
  • Identifying process improvements and associated intervention points
  • Ensuring all health, safety and environmental objectives are taken into consideration progressed, reported, and fed back to ensure we are always developing up to date methods and where possible leading edge initiatives in the design field.
  • Assisting with quality procedure development, control and measurement
  • Assist the Engineering Lead with standardisation across the business unit of reporting and delivery processes and procedures
  • Identification of any delays in the delivery programme both for clients externally and internally, reporting early interventions to ensure delivery timescales
  • Contribute to team improvement initiatives, work with colleagues to share and agree best practice and promote communication and engagement across the teams
  • support project commissioning requirements
