Responsibilities:
The Process Development Engineer role will support process development and technical service of Celanese’s broad portfolio of materials and applications focused on extrusion and blow molding processes. This role will be located at Celanese’s European Technical Center in Geneva, Switzerland.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Mechanical, Chemical or Polymer engineer (Bachelor or Master) or similar engineering discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the industry in polymer processing
  • Exceptional communications skills and teamwork focus
  • Ability to design, conduct experiments, analyze and communicate data and conclude findings from experimental work
  • Excellent safety mindset related to the complexities of an industrial setting and the hazards of polymer processing equipment
  • Proficiency on the use of Microsoft Office applications and statistical analysis
  • Working knowledge of systematic/scientific processing techniques
  • Languages : English and French (required), German a plus
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 20% of the time

ADDITIONAL (DESIRED) QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of experience in laboratory and R&D environment
  • Intimate knowledge and experience on practical extrusion and blow molding processes
  • Experience in other converting processes of polymers such as injection molding, rotational molding, etc
  • 6sigma certification or proof of experience in 6sigma methodology

Responsibilities:

  • Develop effective experimental processing and evaluation methods to support new application development around extrusion (film, sheet, tube, profile, etc) and blow molding (press blow molding, 2D and 3D suction) techniques
  • Support trials at customers, machine suppliers and internal laboratories
  • Work closely with new product development, application development, commercial teams and technical service team to identify critical product characteristics of new or existing products to enable project progress and wins
  • Coordinate global technical support on blow molding by leading operations of the blow molding equipment at the European Technology Center in Geneva, Switzerland and working as consultant to the Application Development Center in Troy, Michigan, USA
  • Manage service request cases related to blow molding and extrusion to make sure they are supported timely and efficiently
  • Interface with customers, vendors, tollers and machine suppliers
  • Participate and help lead all safety and quality aspects of the extrusion and blow molding laboratories to ensure compliance with Celanese standards
  • Develop, document and provide training and literature (internal and external) on extrusion and blow molding related processes
