Onsite - This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Flint, Michigan, on a full-time basis.
YOUR SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with at least 2 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
- Demonstrated analytical ability, communication, and interpersonal skills to build relationships with team members and customers, enabling effective problem-solving and issue resolution.
- Technical knowledge and proficiency in process engineering disciplines, particularly in CNC and cutting operations.
- Proficiency in evaluating equipment alternatives and determining the optimal sequence and flow of operations to maximize the utilization of personnel and machines for efficient part production.
- Understanding of tooling and manufacturing processes to ensure effective production.
- Proven ability to manage multiple and complex projects independently, taking full accountability for results.
- Knowledge and ability to implement lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement.
- Demonstrates initiative by going beyond assigned work to improve output and support others.
- Flexibility to work daily overtime, weekends, and potentially off shifts as scheduled.
Responsibilities:
THE ROLE
The Process Engineer will work in an hourly union environment, receiving occasional guidance from supervision and peers.
As a Process Engineer , you will be responsible for assisting in the procurement of tooling and machinery, as well as qualifying OEM equipment. This includes managing the OEM equipment throughout the build and installation phases. Your role will involve continuously improving both machinery and processes.
You will work in a centralized manufacturing engineering environment that embraces agile methodologies. This environment empowers team members, promotes cross-functional collaboration, encourages transparency, and facilitates rapid cycles of learning.
In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will provide direction and information to skilled trades personnel when applicable. You will also support manufacturing activities by troubleshooting and diagnosing processes to eliminate scrap or downtime.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Oversee the process development, equipment installation, debug, runoff, validation, and continuous improvement activities required to produce high-quality components.
- Develop and maintain necessary documentation (Job Instructions, Failure Mode Effect Analysis databases, machine drawings, tooling drawings, etc.).
- Responsible for a specific manufacturing or quality issues
- Supporting the production team with data for resolving other issues not assigned to engineering
- Work on CNC, Cutting operations, Turning operations, Fastening and testing systems.
