ABOUT THE ROLE

Due to exciting growth and development, we are on the lookout for a Process Engineer to join our Applied Health & Nutrition site in Carrigaline. This is an important role that will help make sure our processes can deliver on our future plans and expansion, as we continue to evolve in the biotechnology space.
You will be the supporting process improvement, yield improvement and contamination reduction across our plant.
With a focus on fermentation, microfiltration, separation, liquids blending, sterilization and spray-drying, this is a fantastic opportunity to join an advanced and technical site.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • To continually improve existing processes through the elimination of process variance & delivering a consistent yield & quality of product.
  • To introduce new processes & technologies that are required for delivery of the enzyme business strategy & its profit targets.
  • Develops & implements the site’s process improvement program within an agreed timeframe.
  • Maintains a broad knowledge of industry trends & shares this with other site functions to plan for enhancing the sites manufacturing capability.
  • Specifies & selects manufacturing equipment & sets the standards for its operation of all existing & new processes.
  • Optimisation of unit operations such as fermentation, filtration, spray-drying and powders blending.
  • Participates in process and equipment risk assessments in order to optimise engineering design, hygienic design, personnel safety and environmental compliance.
  • Support ongoing capital projects onsite.
  • Identification and implementation of new technology and process technology innovation that will assist business improvement/development.
  • Oversee contractors

WHAT YOU CAN BRING TO THE ROLE

  • A relevant degree in a chemical or process engineering discipline. Other engineering disciplines will be considered provided a proven track record exists in process improvement.
  • Significant experience in a similar role.
  • Process engineering experience in the biotechnology, food, pharmaceutical or chemical sector.
  • Project management skills.
  • Familiar with GMP; HACCP and Six Sigma.
  • Have a good working knowledge of personal computers, MS Office, MS Project, CAD and relational databases.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to apply Engineering principles in practical application.
  • Ability to apply continuous improvement principles.
