Process Engineer

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY

The position is responsible for production and quality associated with the fiber bleaching process. Requires knowledge to master all related tasks around bleaching cotton fiber. Also responsible for following safety procedures, improving overall processes and related issues, including process documentation, and problem solving.

EXPERIENCE

• 3 years of Engineering degree or equivalent is required
• Experience in a field related to manufacturing a plus but not required

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college

SKILLS

• Knowledge of computers
• Basic design creativity
• Drafting/CAD
• Normal math skills involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is required.
• Must be able read and write English
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required
• Must be able read and write English
• Good mechanical, process flow and reasoning ability
• General mechanical skills
• Ability to work without close supervision

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE

• Background in Chemistry
• MRP System (EtQ)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must follow all PPE policies by wearing steel toed shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, and hair nets as required.
• Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting, pulling and pushing up to 25 lbs., unassisted. Must be able to bend, reach and turn frequently. Must be able to stand and move about the facility.
• Frequently (more than 50% of time) required to: stand and/or walk, use ladders and climb stairs, bend and stoop, reach, push/pull, kneel and crouch. Lift, carry and/or move items up to 25 lbs., without assistance; use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls, to verbally communicate, write and to hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• Must be able to differentiate colors.
• Frequently (more than 75% of time) exposed to dust and loud noise, and fumes (MSDS sheets available upon request).

• Developing quality standards, methods, work instructions, and SOPs for the process.
• Provides shop floor support for manufacturing.
• Accountable for both quality assurance and quality control of products, manufacturing processes, and outside vendor services.
• Develop systems to manage inventories of raw materials and finished goods.
• Own gage and CMM validation and out of tolerance investigations.
• Develop new solutions under guidance and/or in a team setting or based upon precedents in the organizations.
• Lead department personnel to insure quality and production goals are met.
• Lead team in defining effective Root Cause Corrective Actions.
• Lead investigation for Work Station Audit findings, Product Audit findings, and Customer Returns.
• Support manufacturing engineering team to monitor and analyze process capability and define process improvement plans.
• Lead analytical and design activities using proven technologies and vested approaches and methods.
• Strong understanding of Quality Management system (QMS).
• Work on shop floor with operators to address quality issues.
• Perform other duties and special tasks as assigned.
