Salary up 42,000 inc. shift allowance.
Location Stonehouse, Glouc.
Renishaw’s Manufacturing division has a requirement for a Process Finishing Production Engineer to be responsible for the application of process engineering disciplines within a highly complex and challenging precision manufacturing environment. The role includes the support and development of process finishing processes, whilst also being responsible for driving proactive improvement activities targeting quality, product cost and waste reduction. Working hours are on a Double Day shift pattern (Week-1: 6am - 2pm, Week-2: 2pm - 10pm).

Responsibilities

  • Technical support and development of the processes that exist within the assigned manufacturing area on a daily basis.
  • Introduction of robust process finishing processes, and creation of supporting production documentation.
  • The investigation of process problems and root cause analysis, with the implementation of robust corrective actions.
  • Continuous improvement activities within the supported areas using fact-based metrics.
  • Analysis of process performance data in order to identify improvement actions.
  • Regular interaction with the product division and the support services within the manufacturing services division.
  • The vacancy is within the Stonehouse shop support team and is for the double day shift working pattern.

Key requirements

  • Degree level education in a relevant technical discipline such as, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering or Manufacturing Systems. Or a HNC/HND level education with significant experience in a related engineering field.
  • Knowledge of CNC manufacturing and CAD/CAM systems.
  • Good communication and PC skills and the ability to work with minimal support.
  • Experience working with fine tolerances and the ability to work on precision equipment.
  • The ability to understand technical drawings and geometric tolerances.
  • A focused approach to waste reduction and product / process cost reduction.

Desirable requirements

  • Proven success in the support and improving of technically challenging, high precision engineering processes.
  • Successful application of structured problem solving and statistical analysis techniques.
  • A good understanding of production metrics such as, productivity, efficiency, waste and cost of quality.
  • Mechanical design awareness including tooling, jigs, fixtures and process models.
  • Understanding of metrology, measurement techniques and calibration.

Person specification
The successful applicant will have a strong technical background with a hands‑on approach and be able to demonstrate success in the support and development of complex, technically challenging processes. Attention to detail and the determination and tenacity to resolve technical problems where a solution is not immediately apparent.
