Description:
This role is crucial for developing and maintaining process mass balance and production hydraulic models that comply with best practices and industry standards. Models will reflect baseline conditions, growth, and climate change factors aligned with Water Resource Management Plan (WRMP) needs, evaluated at five-year intervals.
You will conduct data analysis and modelling to enhance asset management for non-infrastructure water treatment assets. This involves assessing facilities’ resilience under various scenarios to identify future risks to water supply, which will support investment decisions. Collaborating with the planning community and operational teams will be essential in uncovering significant risks throughout Thames Water’s area.
Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING AS A PROCESS MODELLER
- Model building includes collecting and analysing customer, asset, process, work, and cost data and assembling them into models with a pre-defined structure.
- Highlight the area of development of critical datasets required to improve modelling capability.
- Use data to calibrate and verify models.
- Undertake analysis, including using models to identify new/validate existing risks and needs. Where applicable, develop, test and evaluate solutions.
- Provide technical support to the broader business as required.
- Learn and develop new solutions in pursuit of advancing our process and production modelling capability internally.
- Act as subject matter expert for process and production modelling and advise the business when working with external consultants.
Based in Hybrid, Hampton Coal Wharf, you will be required on-site as part of your role requires you to on average 2-3 days a week.
36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING TO THE ROLE
- Ideally, a STEM degree is qualified or has significant experience in similar roles.
- Have exposure during studying or work experience to pushing computer hydraulic models/software.
- Intermediate competence with Microsoft Office, GIS, and databases.
- Exposure to InfoWorks, ICM, or similar hydraulic modelling platforms.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, organised and systematic.
- Able to handle large complex data sets.
