POSITION SUMMARY

Magellan Aerospace, Mississauga has an exciting new opportunity for a Process Planning Manager. The purpose of this position is to manage the process planning department. The successful incumbent will utilize departmental resources effectively towards accomplishing the division goals, objectives and KPIs.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • University/ College diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Training in Process Planning/ Manufacturing Engineering or minimum 10 years of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of Process Planning/ Manufacturing Engineering experience with minimum 2 years in aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in managing or coordinating technical tasks.
  • Additional training or experience in Quality Assurance, Tool Design or Estimating will be considered assets.
  • Excellent prioritization, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Strong mentoring and training skills.
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Preventative, proactive and forward thinking.
  • Excellent procedure development skills.
  • Strong Process Planning skills including creation of Process Summaries (PS), Manufacturing Operation Sheets (MOS), Inspection Method Sheets (IMS), and disposition of deviation reports and development of rework/repair processes.
  • Good understanding of product quality and aerospace industry quality standards.
  • Understanding of estimating and establishing of process standard times.
  • Proficient in Solid Edge CAD or similar CAD software.
  • Excellent understanding of aerospace product drawings, specifications and R&O manuals.
  • Excellent knowledge of aerospace manufacturing and R&O processes including assembly, machining, welding, EDM, coatings, special processes, NDT and CMM inspection.
  • Good Tool and Gauge Design knowledge.
  • Knowledge of modern manufacturing equipment and automation.
  • Knowledge of modern manufacturing engineering tools and software.
  • Basic or advanced knowledge of gas turbine engines.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance to MAM’s policies, SOP, QAP, Customers and regulatory requirements, and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Provides timely Process Planning support to customers and internal departments.
  • Improves and optimizes departmental workflows and procedures.
  • Conducts assessments to identify and mitigate potential process risks.
  • Fosters the professional development of process planning employees to ensure they possess the necessary skills and competencies.
  • Establishes and maintains succession plans to avoid single point failures and bottlenecks in resource allocation.
  • Participates/leads technical troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Drives continuous improvement, process modernization, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitates RCCA investigations.
  • Leads/provides customer technical support.
  • Develops and manages departmental goals, objectives and KPIs.
  • Performs various tasks as needed.
