Purpose of the Role/Key Accountabilities
This role is positioned within the Scotch Governance Team, reporting to the Scotch Governance HSE Manager. The post holder will support the process safety priorities within Scotch and will be responsible for the translation and implementation of global and regulatory compliance standards, including Control Of Major Accident Hazards 2015 and Major Accident Prevention Policy. The role will support the implementation and sustainability of the Global Process Safety Framework through Global Risk Management Standards.
- This role will work closely with the other members of the Governance team within Scotch and operational management teams.
- Lead on key process safety improvement projects.
- Own and administer the Corporate Safety Report.
- Uphold the commitments within the corporate MAPP.
- Manage the review and update of Top Tier COMAH Site Safety Reports.
- Manage the review and update of Lower Tier COMAH Site QRAs.
- Lead a standaridised and codified approach to Strategic Inspection topics, for example, Reactive Monitoring.
- Lead Scotch COMAH Forum & Support wider Scotland COMAH Forum.
- Continually driving a culture of improvement across the process safety function and ensuring direct reports are fully engaged in the improve agenda.
Key Deliverables
- Lead on process safety:
- Provide process safety/COMAH information and advice to stakeholders.
- Embed and improve process safety leadership, understanding and awareness.
- Support with medium and high severity process safety events.
- Maintain Corporate Safety Report.
- Support Scotch with COMAH HSE intervention visits and compliance.
- Lead on specific specialised assessments such as Human Factor Assessments for all critical tasks associated with Major Accident Hazards.
- Support COMAH sites to comply with requirements of Diageo Global Technical Safety Standard 2430 – Major Accident Prevention.
- Support Scotch Process Safety Improvement Steering Group.
Experience, Skills & Capabilities Required
Qualifications
- Qualification in Engineering / Process Safety or equivalent with work placement experience within high hazard industrial / manufacturing setting.
- Extensive experience with a good knowledge of legislation and process safety risks and control
- NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health or degree equivalent in Process Safety
- Familiarity with common risk assessment tools e.g. Bow Tie, HAZOP, LOPA
- Sound understanding of automation, process control and functional safety.
- Good understanding of requirements of COMAH 2015 and Major Accident Risk Assessment.
- Experience in large scale multi discipline projects

- Must have experience of complex and high hazard industry.
- Must be able to maintain a strategic view, whilst also retaining detail.
