Process Technician

An opportunity exists within Safal Steel for a Process Technician(2x) to be based in KwaZulu Natala Region (Cato Ridge). The position reports to Process Engineer.

Drive process improvements with regards to cost, quality, throughput, training, and safety.

• Compliance of health, safety, environmental rules, and regulations.
• Drive and manage business and process improvement projects in conjunction with all departments
• Assist in general training of production employees.
• Perform project and contractor management.
• Drive safety and housekeeping.
• Co-compile and execute strategies for improvement on plants.
• Good understanding of company business models and processes.
• Execute development and plant improvement projects.
• Excellent understanding of quality management systems.
• Experience in Route cause analysis.
• Process modelling and digitization.
• Manage, execute, and implement capital and operational projects.
• Work with other Engineering disciplines.
• Training and mentoring of candidates and process employees.
• Application of good engineering principles.
• Assistance with process related plant issues.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Working knowledge of rolling of steel, metal coating, colour coating, roll forming and other related processes.
• Compiling of detail technical specifications.
• Solid knowledge of Engineering principles, processes, systems, procedures, and practices.
• Proficient in official business language, good written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate efficiently to team members.

Minimum academic qualification: Metallurgical or Industrial Engineering National Diploma or equivalent
Qualifications as an added advantage: Business studies
Professional registration: Pr. Tech
Lean Manufacturing knowledge
Minimum work experience (years): 3 Years post ECSA approved candidate technician programme
Preferred work experience (years): 3-5 years post qualification experience in Steel or related industry with proven track record of BI project implementatio
