Description:
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Administration of the Stelco safety program to ensure a safe work environment within the Operating facility
- Communicate, direct, and facilitate the overall operation of the facility; build constructive relationships; ensure accountability, engage employees, and promote teamwork and responsibility to improve employee morale; and ensure consistent productivity and cost
- Directly manage the workforce and coordinate all administrative activities pertaining to that responsibility including performance reviews, employee evaluations and related documentation
- Making design and proc ess modifications to existing equipment to reduce maintenance downtime , improve reliability, improve process flow and improve product quality
- Performing equipment root cause failure analysis and making appropriate recommendations to improve operations .
- Assist in the design, development, and optimization of steel production processes.
- Conduct research and analysis to support engineering and production teams.
- Build teams and collaborate to acquire a strong understanding of the ro lling process and drive continuous improvement.
- Working with consultants and equipment vendors to ensure process requirements and applicable standards and codes are met
- Investigate process improvements and participate in facilities upgrades .
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or degree in mechanical engineering or similar technical discipline
- 1 – 2 years of professional or manufacturing work experience preferred
- Previous work experience in a unionized work environment is an asset
