PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST
We are seeking a detail-oriented Cannabis Procurement Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the procurement processes for bulk cannabis and finished goods, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services. They will also have a strong understanding of the cannabis market, exceptional negotiation skills, and a keen eye for quality. The Cannabis Procurement Specialist will work closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to maintain quality standards and optimize costs. The Specialist supports the development of procurement policies and procedures to ensure compliance, fairness, and integrity within the procurement process while adhering to all applicable policies and procedures.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Oversee the procurement process for bulk cannabis and finished goods, from sourcing to delivery based on Blizza’s quality standards and inventory needs
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure a consistent and reliable supply of high-quality cannabis
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms, ensuring profitable transactions
- Conduct thorough market research and supplier analysis to stay updated on industry trends, pricing, and competitor activities while informing procurement and sales strategies
- Proactively identify opportunities for more effective acquisition of goods and services
- Evaluate and select bulk product by validating target specifications and that compliance criteria are met by collaborating with the quality assurance team
- Ensure that records are accurately maintained, and all procurement is documented from start to finish for retention and audit purposes
- Track data input for procurement services
- Verify and process requisition and purchase orders, executing all necessary transactions
- Handle any issues related to quality management and production delays
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and sales teams to maintain optimal stock levels
- Implement strategies to manage excess or surplus inventory effectively
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand procurement needs
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
- Monitor market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities
- Assist in production planning by coordinating with suppliers
- Handle any issues related to quality management and production delays
Experience/Skills:
- Proven experience in procurement, supplier management, and contract negotiation, ideally from within the cannabis industry
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to drive cost savings
- Knowledge of production planning processes
- Ability to fabricate solutions in challenging situations
- Price and contract negotiation expertise
- Quality management proficiency
- Supplier management skills
- Ability to think critically and problem-solve effectively
- Proficient in market analysis and strategic planning
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Understanding of cannabis cultivations, strains, and quality indicators
- At least two (2) years of experience in procurement processes, vendor management, and/or client management
- Intermediate MS Office Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)
