As a Procurement Director working in the Industrial team at Pomerleau Construction, you will manage relationships with suppliers and contractors, as well as accounts with strategic suppliers assigned to various projects to optimize financial and operational performance. Working on large-scale projects – ranging from $50 million to upwards of $1 billion – you will have the opportunity to identify potential subcontractors and suppliers, evaluate proposals and negotiate contracts.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU WILL DO

In collaboration with project teams:

  • Research and manage supplier and contractor relationships for individual projects, as well as key/strategic supplier accounts, to optimize financial and operational performance;
  • Identify potential subcontractors and suppliers, evaluate proposals and negotiate contracts with suppliers, ensuring best value for money;
  • Prepare bidding documents for subcontractor/supplier procurement, including: contract terms, construction methodologies and schedule, pricing requirements in collaboration with other project team members;
  • Develop and maintain procurement files, including contracts, purchase orders and supplier performance indicators;
  • Monitor supplier performance, identify areas for improvement and implement corrective action plans where necessary;
  • Negotiate prices and conditions with subcontractors and suppliers;
  • Monitor the process if further modifications are required;
  • Work closely with project managers and stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and develop procurement plans accordingly;
  • Develop and prepare reports for senior staff to provide an update on the procurement process;
  • Ensure that all procurement activities are conducted in accordance with legal and ethical standards.

THIS ROLE COULD BE FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE

  • Over 10 years’ experience in procurement in the industrial construction sector;
  • Experience, knowledge and existing relationships with major local suppliers across Canada would be an asset;
  • Experience in procurement processes, methods, practices and contract administration, as well as accounting and planning principles;
  • Solid knowledge of procurement processes, including sourcing, contracting, negotiation and supplier management;
  • Ability to work productively with minimal supervision;
  • Available to travel to oversee supplier performance, production and schedules as needed.

Additional Asset Include:

  • Fluency in both official languages written and oral (English and French).
