Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the end-to-end procurement process from development of the procurement strategy planning, setting of procurement requirements, issuing of tenders through to evaluation, selection & contract award and coordination of internal sign off and approval pre-award.
  • Development of the project or programme procurement strategy.
  • Development of optimum relationships with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of contracts for the delivery of materiel and services.
  • Provision of expert procurement advice and guidance to the business that will be central to developing and maintaining an effective Make vs Buy challenge.
  • Introduction of advantageous commercial arrangement and / or innovative contracting models that seek a partnership and collaborative approach with key supply chain partners.
  • Ensures an environment for continual improvement to ensure that the Supply Chain team provides a proactive, effective and efficient service to the business; identifying and challenging performance issues and non-compliance and driving out improvement actions / plans to address.
  • Undertake commercial activities related to make/buy decisions including preparation of the contract scope specification (noting that functional areas remain accountable for technical aspects of these decisions).Efficient & effective day to day management of supply chain.


    • Degree in a business, construction, supply chain, or operations management field, or equivalent project experience in lieu of degree.

    • Membership of a relevant professional body, for example MCIPS or MRICS.
    • Comprehensive understanding of UK Gov Public Procurement Policy.
    • Knowledge of principles, methods and practices related to procurement and supply chain management.
    • Knowledge of contractual terms and conditions, preferably NEC and experience of working with bespoke forms of contract.
    • Strong and successful track record in leading and execution of projects within defence, energy or construction environment.Security Cleared or the ability to obtain the required level of clearance.
