Description:
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Procurement Manager to oversee the procurement process for Wadi Baa’d for Trading and Transportation, a crane rental company. This role involves managing the acquisition of all necessary equipment, parts, and services to ensure smooth operations and meet operation & maintenance departments demands. The Procurement Manager will work closely with the operations and finance teams to source, negotiate, and purchase spare parts, and services, while maintaining cost control, supplier relationships, and timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procure Machinery Parts: Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to acquire parts, and accessories needed for the fleet.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to secure the best pricing, quality, and delivery terms.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers and service providers to ensure favorable terms for the company.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels and ensure an adequate supply of spare parts, accessories, and consumables for machinery maintenance and repair.
- Cost Control & Budgeting: Work closely with the finance department to ensure that procurement activities align with budgetary constraints and cost-saving objectives.
- Vendor Evaluation & Performance: Conduct periodic evaluations of supplier performance, ensuring compliance with contracts and quality standards.
- Market Research & Trends: Stay informed about industry trends, new equipment, and emerging technologies in the crane rental and construction sectors to recommend innovative procurement strategies.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the supply chain and work to develop mitigation strategies, such as establishing multiple sources for critical items.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all procurement activities are in compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and regulatory standards. Maintain accurate records and reports on procurement activities.
- Collaboration with Operations: Work closely with the operations and maintenance teams to forecast equipment needs, ensure timely availability, and plan for fleet upgrades or replacements.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in the construction, heavy equipment, or fleet rental industries.
- Strong knowledge of crane, forklift, manlift or related equipment, parts, and maintenance requirements and SOP development for procurement management.
- Excellent negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships.
- Familiarity with procurement software and ERP system, as well as inventory management systems.
- Experience with sourcing suppliers to machinery, parts, and accessories needed for the fleet.
- Strong understanding of contract management and cost control strategies.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Fluency in English (knowledge of Arabic is a plus).
Preferred Qualifications:
- GCC experience is a plus.
- CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) certification or similar procurement qualifications.
- Knowledge of Oman’s procurement laws and regulations (or relevant country laws).
- Experience in the oil and gas or construction sectors is a plus.
