Description:

Mount Pleasant Group of Cemeteries is a not-for-profit organization that has been caring for families in the GTA since 1826. We operate ten cemeteries, nine funeral centres and four cremation centres, all serving the distinct needs of the local communities where they are located. We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to join our team at our head office in East York.
The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for managing procurement activities, and ensuring the timely acquisition of goods and services required for MPG. This role involves strategic sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiation, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. They will work closely with the cemetery, funeral and other departments to meet the operational needs and contribute to cost-saving initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree / Diploma / Certificate in Supply Chain Management, Business or other related disciplines; or equivalent combination of work experience, training and education
  • Must have Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC), Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or related certification
  • At least seven (7) years of experience in procurement, purchasing or vendor contract management
  • Experience managing competitive contract bidding for a variety of products or services
  • Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics Navision is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract negotiation
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and ERP systems
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards in the funeral and cemetery services industry is a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, persuasion and customer service skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects and deadlines
  • Understanding of basic accounting concepts
  • Good business judgment and decision-making skills
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel, with ability to create and analyze spreadsheets and reports
